Milton Keynes Development Consultation

The development scheme is known as MK2031 and is targeted to provide 70,000 new homes and the necessary industry and infrastructure to support this size-able city expansion.
It is unlikely that Thornborough will be directly affected by development although villages closer to Milton Keynes such as Whaddon and Nash are under significant threat of being irreversibly changed as new housing developments either engulf them or get very close indeed.
The direct threat to Thornborough is that the A421 is thought to require its own development programme in order to service the newly enlarged Milton Keynes. One of the possibilities is that the road will retain its current route but become a dual carriageway.
The opportunity therefore is for the road to be enlarged on the Thornborough side of the ridge it presently occupies and to have its own impact on the village in the form of noise pollution, access restrictions and potentially, more through traffic venturing into the village.
You will notice that the issue of the A421 development is not something that is mentioned specifically in any of the printed material that accompanies this note and this is good news for Thornborough.
By writing and expressing concerns you may have at this early stage, the effect could be to pre-empt any decision to develop the dual carriageway any closer to Thornborough. If you wish to express an opinion on this matter please either write to Thornborough Parish Council who will collate all responses and send them onto English Partnerships or write directly to: Cheryl Montgomery, Milton Keynes Partnership, Central Business Exchange, 406 - 411 Midsummer Boulevard, Central Milton Keynes, MK9 2EA.
The Parish Council are distributing a leaflet and questionnaire together with a printed version of this letter which have been produced by English Partnerships and the Milton Keynes Partnership Committee. More information is available at www.mkweb.co.uk. Please take a look at the information provided and take the opportunity to have your say.
Thornborough Parish Council will be discussing the issue presented by MK2031 at its meeting on 12 September in the Village Hall at 8.00pm.
Any comments back are very welcome. Please email tpcadmin@thornboroughvillage.co.uk - we look forward to hearing from you very soon!
